If you have extra days for trekking in Nepal, you can join other trekking packages based on your days. A complete Everest Base Camp Trek takes 12 to 16 days in the Everest region and includes a hike to the base camp of Mount Everest and a return to Lukla on foot. This high-altitude adventure is memorable. So, you can join the 10-day Everest Base Camp Trek without acclimatization days on the route. The 12-day Everest Base Camp trek from Kathmandu and the Gokyo Ri Trek in the Gokyo Valleys are the most popular alternative treks.

During an Everest Short trek, you can enjoy various nourishing and flavorful meals that cater to trekkers' dietary needs and preferences. The teahouses and lodges along the trail offer diverse food options to replenish your energy after hiking. Traditional Nepali dishes such as dal bhat (rice and lentils), momo (dumplings), and Thukpa (noodle soup) are popular choices. You can also find international cuisines, such as pasta, pizza, and pancakes, ensuring there's something for everyone.
The food in the Everest region is prepared with locally sourced ingredients, including fresh vegetables, meat, and dairy products. Vegetarian options are advisable as they are less likely to cause digestive issues at higher altitudes. Additionally, drinking plenty of fluids and staying hydrated are essential.
While trekking, be mindful of food hygiene and choose reputable meal establishments. The dining experiences provide sustenance and an opportunity to interact with fellow trekkers, sharing stories and experiences in the breathtaking surroundings of the Everest region.
During the Short Everest view trek, trekkers can stay in teahouses or lodges along the trail. These accommodations provide basic but comfortable facilities for weary trekkers to rest and rejuvenate. Teahouses are the most common accommodation along the Everest trekking route. They are simple guesthouses that offer dormitory-style rooms or private rooms with twin beds. The teahouse facilities are modest, with shared bathrooms and common dining areas where meals are served. Blankets and pillows are usually provided, but we recommend bringing a sleeping bag for extra warmth and comfort.
In some larger villages, such as Namche Bazaar, Phakding, Lukla, and Tengboche, some lodges offer slightly more comfortable accommodations than teahouses. These lodges offer private rooms with attached bathrooms; some may also feature hot showers for an additional fee.
We begin our journey to the Everest region with a 40-minute scenic flight to Lukla. After landing in Lukla, you will take a short hike to Phakding while passing Chaurikharka Village.
Phakding is a starting point for Everest treks; at the Phakding market, you can find everything you need. It also has modern restaurants and cafes with Wi-Fi. Phakding also has many monasteries, including Rimishung Monastery, which we will not miss.
We start the hike early in the morning along the northern banks of the Dudh Koshi River and take it slow to reach our destination, Namche Bazaar. As you trek ahead, you will cross several prayer flag-ornamented suspension bridges—including Hillary Bridge—that will make your trek exciting. Eventually, you will reach Monjo village and then Sagarmatha National Park.
We will register our permit at the Sagarmatha National Park and climb up the forest, where you will enjoy your first glimpse of Mt. Everest. Through the woods and on the stone-paved way, we finally reach Namche Bazar, one of the most popular places in the Everest region. The Sherpas' lively atmosphere and heartwarming hospitality will make your stay very pleasant.
We stayed at Namche Bazaar for another day to acclimatize to the altitude. However, we will not be idle. We will explore Namche Bazaar as we immerse ourselves in its beauty. You can hike to Sagarmatha National Park, Khumjung (3,790m), or Khunde. On the way to Khumjung, we will also visit the Hillary School and the old monasteries.
Namche offers many hidden wonders. A must-visit place is the Syangboche Airport (3,780m), one of the highest airports in the world. If you want excellent views of Everest, you can hike to the Everest View Hotel. We concluded our day enjoying the exquisiteness of Namche Bazaar and eating delicious, authentic Sherpa cuisine.
We follow the narrow and sparsely paved trails from Namche Bazaar as we head on to our destination for the day, Tengboche. We walk through thinning trees, over suspension bridges, and climb steps to reach Tengboche, which is famous for the Tengboche Monastery, with Ama Dablam (6812m), Nuptse (7861m), and Everest (8848m) as its backdrop.
We start the day as early as possible to savour the beauty of the sun's rays kissing Mount Everest. We board a helicopter and fly from Tengboche over Everest Base Camp and Khumbu Glacier to Kala Patthar (5,555m) - the highest altitude point of our trip. We will fly very near the Everest Base Camp, giving you ample time to appreciate its beauty.
Mount Everest (8,848m) is often hidden behind Mount Lhotse (8,516m), so we reach Kala Patthar to witness the mighty Everest and other alluring Himalayan peaks.
We spend 5 to 10 minutes at Kala Patthar amid the serenity of the world's highest mountains, enjoying the incredible scenery. After savoring the views to the heart's content, we fly back to Kathmandu by helicopter or by flight, as per your request.
